Corporate Climate Change & Decarbonisation Planning
Turning climate commitments into practical action requires more than setting emissions targets. Organisations need a clear understanding of their emissions profile, realistic reduction opportunities and a plan for putting those opportunities into practice.
Applied Environment & Safety recently supported a major infrastructure and utilities business in developing its 2027–2032 Climate Change and Decarbonisation Plan, building on previous planning work to establish a clear pathway for reducing greenhouse gas emissions over the coming years.
Our scope of work included analysing Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and reviewing 2025-2026 performance to understand key emissions sources, assess progress against existing initiatives and identify opportunities for further reductions. This analysis helped shape the 2026-2027 planning approach, with a focus on practical opportunities across fleet operations, subcontractor transport fuels, plant and equipment, and electricity consumption.
Applied Environment & Safety also developed and modelled proposed decarbonisation initiatives, estimating their potential emissions reductions and marginal abatement costs while considering capital and operating expenditure. Working with key stakeholders, we refined proposed initiatives and helped establish emissions targets, performance forecasting, governance arrangements and ongoing monitoring processes.
The resulting Plan provides a structured pathway for prioritising emissions reduction initiatives through to 2032, with a focus on improving emissions data, clarifying responsibilities and identifying measures that are both operationally feasible and commercially practical.
This project reflects the way we approach corporate sustainability and decarbonisation: combining robust carbon accounting with strategic planning and operational insight to help organisations move from understanding their emissions to taking meaningful action.
