Environmental Management Plans & Inspections
Noosa, Queensland
Applied Environment & Safety provided environmental support to PCA Ground Engineering during road embankment stabilisation works in Noosa, Queensland. These works were important to maintaining the long-term serviceability of the road and drainage infrastructure at this location.
Our role on this project was to provide technical environmental support. This included the development of a Construction Environmental Management Plan, Sediment and Erosion Control Plan, and Rehabilitation Plan. Then we undertook inspections of the works during construction to ensure compliance with the controls for the environmental aspects.
What is an Infrastructure Sustainability Rating?
An Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) Rating is a formal assessment of the sustainability performance of an infrastructure project, delivered through the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) using the IS Rating Tool. Ratings can be pursued across the project lifecycle, covering planning, design (As Designed), construction (As Built) and operations, and assess performance across categories including energy and carbon, water, materials, ecology, and social and economic outcomes.
A rating provides independent, third-party verification that a project has achieved a defined level of sustainability performance, measured against a nationally recognised standard.
Infrastructure clients, particularly state and federal government agencies, increasingly require an IS Rating as a condition of funding or contract. Beyond compliance, the rating process embeds sustainability into project decisions from the outset, identifies efficiency and cost-saving opportunities, and creates the documented evidence needed to demonstrate performance at project completion. Projects that engage with the rating process early are far better placed to achieve their target rating efficiently.
